Terms of Use

These Terms explain the rules for using CaseLuma. CaseLuma is an independent app for organizing USCIS case records, checking receipt status through a secure service, and reviewing educational immigration-related reference information.

Independent app

CaseLuma is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by USCIS, the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of State, or any government agency.

No legal advice

CaseLuma does not provide legal advice, immigration representation, form filing, eligibility determinations, or guaranteed immigration outcomes. Information shown in the app is for personal organization and general educational use only.

For legal advice about an immigration matter, contact a qualified immigration attorney or accredited representative.

Official sources

USCIS and other government agencies remain the official sources for case status, filing requirements, priority dates, processing times, and immigration guidance. Users should confirm important information with USCIS or the relevant official source before making decisions.

User responsibilities

You are responsible for entering accurate receipt numbers and case labels, protecting access to your device, reviewing official USCIS information when needed, and using the app in compliance with applicable laws and App Store terms.

Saved data and push alerts

Saved cases, labels, notes, reminders, and preferences are stored locally on your device unless a feature clearly requires a backend service. If push status alerts are enabled, CaseLuma may send saved receipt numbers and a device push token to the CaseLuma backend so it can check for status changes and send notifications.

You can delete saved cases in the app, turn optional status alerts off, and request deletion of backend alert data by contacting [email protected]. CaseLuma does not currently require user accounts.

Pro features

CaseLuma Pro may unlock optional tools such as receipt scanning, priority-date workflows, local reminders, checklists, and exports. In-app purchases are handled by Apple. Refund requests and purchase management are handled through Apple according to Apple's policies.

Availability

CaseLuma may be interrupted, delayed, or unavailable because of network issues, backend maintenance, USCIS API availability, App Store services, or other factors outside our control.

Privacy and service providers

CaseLuma's Privacy Policy explains what data is stored locally, what may be sent to the backend, how status alerts work, retention periods, deletion requests, and the service providers used to operate the app.

CaseLuma does not sell personal information. Service providers may process limited data only as needed to provide app, backend, security, notification, payment, and official-source lookup services.

Changes to these Terms

CaseLuma may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted publicly with an updated date and plain-language summary where appropriate. If a change materially expands data collection, data sharing, or third-party use, CaseLuma will request active consent through the app, email, or another clear user action before applying that expanded use where required or appropriate.

Business transfer

If CaseLuma or its operator is sold, merged, reorganized, or transferred, users will be notified. User information will remain subject to privacy protections consistent with the Privacy Policy, or users will be offered a reasonable way to delete applicable backend data before materially different policies apply.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, CaseLuma is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. CaseLuma is not responsible for immigration decisions, missed deadlines, filing errors, legal consequences, data delays, or actions taken based on app information.
